扁都乡位于临潭县境东南部，距县城41公里。1962年设寇家桥公社，同[module]data-type=map id=2050623 data-catalog=0[/module]年更名扁都公社，1983年置乡。岷(县)合(作)公路穿境而过。平均海拔2893米，年均降雨量502 毫米，年平均气温4℃，全年无霜期56天。乡镇行政区域面积5363万亩。年末耕地面积1463.6万亩，辖地处低山沟谷地带。农业主产小麦、青稞、蚕豆，盛产油菜籽、胡麻、当归等。
